Info Alert! 25 Industry Tweets to Keep You Connected

Keeping up with the latest industry information can seem overwhelming during these time-crunched days. Some people think that social media sites like Twitter may contribute to that feeling, but that’s not always true. It can actually be a great way to keep up with what’s happening in the industry, get breaking news, connect with your favorite brands, and relate to the people behind them.

This week, we’ve compiled 25 industry tweets from the past several weeks that we found interesting (and a few that we’ve posted ourselves). It’s amazing how much info you can get in 140 characters! To make it easier to scan, we’ve separated them into categories that may be of interest: Industry, Technology, Sustainability, Safety, Community, and Other.

You don’t need to have a Twitter account to click through on the links. But if you do have an account, be sure to follow @DonlenFleet. We would enjoy the opportunity to connect with you there.

Driver’s Corner

“LOOK” and stay safe. A new campaign is reminding New Yorkers to LOOK and to be alert and focused at all times, whether they are sitting behind the wheel, riding a bike, or traveling on foot. US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood (@RayLaHood) was on hand to kick off the campaign. Here are some tips to remember every time you’re out:

  • When you’re driving: put your phone down, stop speeding, and drive with care.
  • When you’re a pedestrian: use established crosswalks, turn the volume down on your headphones, keep your eyes and mind on the traffic around you, and hold off on emailing or texting until after you’ve crossed the street.

And Finally…

And finally, another automaker enters the electric bike arena. This time it’s Audi, with a top-of-the-line prototype, unveiled last May. According to @ElectricBikee, “Automakers are realising that the future of transport will cover the full spectrum of vehicles and fuel types” and it’s pushing the limits of electric bike technology. Of course we realize most of these alternative vehicles will never become part of traditional fleets, but we find it interesting to follow what automakers are doing with their technology. We hope you do too.

Have a nice weekend. Safe travels.
