DriverPoint Customer Shares Their Success Story

Source Refrigeration, a market-leader in the design, installation, repair, maintenance, and optimization of mission critical refrigeration & HVAC systems has been utilizing our DriverPoint® Telematics program to manage their fleet spend, and improve driver performance. The majority of Source Refrigeration’s fleet is made up of box trucks, including Chevy Expresses and Ford E250s.SourceLogo

Steve Cook, Fleet Manager with Source Refrigeration sat down recently with DriverPoint’s CJ Biank to talk about how DriverPoint has helped Source Refrigeration’s Fleet Management program.

How easy is it to administer the use of DriverPoint?

Implementation was essentially seamless. Donlen really took the lead from installation and training to refining and maintaining everything. We can count on our Donlen team to keep us informed with any new changes and enhancement to the system.Quote

From your perspective, was there much pushback from your drivers both from a safety perspective and/or a cost savings perspective?

We saw very little push back from anyone, which is a testament to the system.

How much of a challenge was it for you to recommend DriverPoint to your leadership team?

Not a problem… We had no issues recommending the system, mostly because it has proven itself successful in the marketplace. The scorecards allowed us to see the benefits of the program, and the return on investment made sense to our leadership team.

Of all the data gathered through DriverPoint, what has the most impact on how you manage your fleet?

The scorecard system worked very well. It points out which drivers are doing things right. The alerts are also extremely useful… and because we get everything in real time, it is especially beneficial.

Our service managers especially like how the DriverPoint shows them exactly what is going on with all the vehicles and they can act when needed.

How important to your organization is the need to motivate safe driving habits and how has DriverPoint contributed to this need?

What we have seen is that our drivers actually take what they have learned through DriverPoint into their personal lives. Most drivers follow the rules, in fact drivers have told us that the technology has actually made them better drivers when they are not on the job.

Safety is our number one concern and with the capability to monitor acceleration and deceleration, it really points to the driver. We look forward to keep improving our fleet safety, and DriverPoint has really helped Source Refrigeration in that aspect.

Steve, thank you for sharing your experience. For more information on how DriverPoint Telematics can help your fleet, please contact us.

Fuel Economy Average Climbing

Automotive News reports on the EPA’s annual Fuel Economy Trends, that car manufacturers are providing drivers with more MPG on their light duty vehicles. The 0.5 increase is due to better technology such as gasoline direct injection engines, turbochargers and advanced transmissions to boost efficiency. Next up, manufacturers will be focusing on the fuel economy of their medium and heavy-duty trucks. This will allow them to remain on-track with President Obama’s stipulation that all vehicles must average 54.5 MPG by 2025.

Traffic Safety Tips

The Fall Season brings many wonderful things to our senses: the sight of leaves changing colors, the feeling of warm comfy sweaters, and the taste and smell of pumpkin flavored foods and drinks. However, the Fall can also be a dangerous time for driving. Those beautiful leaves on the trees will fall to the ground and cover up potholes and become slippery after a night of frost. Daylight hours decrease and nighttime driving will be longer making easily seen people and objects harder to avoid. For more tips on safe driving during the fall please click here.

Halloween-Image
One of the most active and outdoor holiday celebration is happening at the end of the month: HALLOWEEN! Drivers will need to pay close attention around neighborhoods on this night, especially when children are wearing dark costumes can easily run into the street unexpectedly. Halloween-Safety.com posts on their site tips to help drivers and children stay safe during Halloween. For these safe driving safety tips click here.
