NORTHBROOK, IL —Donlen, a provider of innovative fleet management systems, teamed with TPC Management Company to coordinate 45 auto auctions across the country and raise $150,000 for the “One Step at a Time” program, a summer camp experience for children with cancer and leukemia. The amount was the highest yet in the annual effort to benefit Children’s Oncology Services, topping last year’s mark by more than 47% and raising nearly six times the total of the 2004 launch campaign.

“Not only were donations up dramatically over last year, participation by major auction companies nearly doubled as well,” said Gary Rappeport, Donlen chief executive officer. “Regardless of their affiliations, the auctions all rally around this one extraordinary cause and we’re proud to lead this effort.”

Children’s Oncology Services of Illinois, Inc., a not-for-profit charitable organization, conducts the “One Step at a Time” program to benefit children 7-18 diagnosed with leukemia or other forms of cancer. The unique two-week camps give afflicted children a rare bonding experience and a safe, supportive environment to enjoy some of the everyday joys of childhood. Their website is onestepcamp.org.

Campers participate in a wide range of recreational activities, and most importantly, build lasting friendships. An experienced, all-volunteer staff provides medical and counseling assistance.

TPC Management Company helped Donlen coordinate the program for the fourth straight year, teaming with many independent auctions as well as ADESA and Manheim affiliated auctions and headquarters operations to raise funds.

Many auctions began their own fundraising efforts early last fall and continued right through March, holding raffles and auctions of sports memorabilia and other donated merchandise in conjunction with Donlen vehicles sales. Some dealers also donated money directly.

Participating auctions included ABC Detroit/Toledo and ABC West Michigan. ADESA Corporate made a donation as well as many individual participating auctions; ADESA Atlanta, ADESA Birmingham, ADESA Charlotte, ADESA Cincinnati, ADESA Jacksonville, ADESA Kansas City, ADESA Knoxville, ADESA Sacramento, ADESA San Antonio, ADESA San Diego, ADESA Tampa, ADESA Tulsa, ADESA Wisconsin. As well as many independents like Brasher’s Cascade, Copart Auctions, Corry Auto Auction, Flint Auto Auction, Indiana Auto and Truck Auction, Mountain State Auto Auction, Lone Star Auto Auction, PADE Auto Auction, Poplar Bluff Auto Auction, Rawls Auto Auction, Southern Auto Auction, Tri State NY Auto Auction. In addition to Manheim corporate, Manheim auction locations included Central Florida, Colorado, Dallas Fort Worth, Fredericksburg, Greater Phoenix, Lauderdale-Miami, Metro Milwaukee, Mississippi, NADE, Nashville, Northstar, Pensacola, Southern California, St. Louis, Statesville, Texas Hobby and Utah. In addition, ServNet made a donation and Used Car News donated advertisement space.
