Donlen’s Order-to-Delivery Times

According to Automotive Fleet, order-to-delivery (OTD) times for MY 2013 were affected by a number of factors, including OEM quality holds and transporter-related issues. Weather delays and production backlogs were also contributing factors in higher-than-industry averages.

“Although some models experienced increases, there were many models that improved or didn’t change. Some of the OTD delays that did occur, particularly early in the model-year, were due to multiple recalls on a specific model and material/quality holds,” said Cindy Gomez, Donlen’s Director of Vehicle Acquisition Services. “However, as the model-year progressed, OTD times seemed to improve.”

Our proven process

We take a proactive approach to evaluate every phase of the ordering process, from the time an order is submitted and acknowledged by the manufacturer, to the time the vehicle is delivered to the dealer. We have a team whose primary focus is to analyze the status of all vehicles on order and identify any orders that may be delayed.

Utilizing our dashboard exception reports, the team evaluates ordered vehicles to identify vehicles that are not meeting specific target dates at any point during the order-to-delivery process. This gives us the ability to work with the manufacturer(s) to determine when the order is expected to be released and delivered. All dates that we receive are uploaded into FleetWeb®, where you can view status reports throughout the process.

Additionally, we track OTD on high volume vehicles throughout the model year, and generate reports that highlight variations from month to month. Then, our team works with the OEMs to understand what is driving the fluctuation to ensure it’s not a symptom of a longer term increase.

If we discover a delay that impacts a specific model that affects your orders, we communicate this to you via your Account Manager and CARE®, our CRM tool. Delays are also posted in the Resource Center on www.donlen.com.

You can rest assured of one thing: our primary goal is to keep you informed at each step of the process. We aggressively track delays until final delivery and updates are provided throughout.

And finally…

And finally, white may be the most popular 2013 MY car color, but there are times when white just won’t cut it. Like if you’re a Mustang owner. This crowd definitely prefers colors other than white. Black and red dominate the iconic Ford vehicle’s color palette, with 28 percent and 21 percent of orders respectively. Other popular colors include green and blue. In anticipation of the Mustang’s upcoming 50th anniversary, Ford released details about the exterior paint color trends over the years. Anyone for pink? > Check it out here
