Donlen’s Remarketing Group; Best-in-Class Vehicle Auctions; Outsourcing Leader

“Motivated sellers.”

That’s how Gus Xamplas, Donlen’s VP of Remarketing, describes his group of remarketing pros. “We’re only here to do a good job for our customers,” he went on to say. “And we find a way to get things done so we achieve the best outcomes for them.”

Although a relatively small group of nine people, Donlen’s Remarketing team does big things. In 2012, they sold more than 21,000 vehicles, including consignments and personal sales.

“Consistency is key,” said Gus. “There is a member of our team watching every vehicle we send to auction. The team understands they are accountable for each unit. We’re the eyes and ears of the customer, and we take that responsibility seriously.”

Gus and his team are always asking questions and watching trends: what is the market telling us? How can we use that to our benefit? Because they are in tune both with the expectations of the customer and what’s happening at the auction, they are each empowered to make those quick decisions that yield the best return. “You need to be quick when watching a unit in the lane. It’s why I don’t do it myself,” he says, laughing.

“The team knows what’s expected of them, and we have a great sense of teamwork. We back each other up, and we try to distribute the workload,” said Gus. “I’m really proud of their accomplishments this year.”

Gus is Vice President of the industry group International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA) and sits on their Board of Directors. “IARA is the voice of the commercial consigners, and it’s important to hear different viewpoints, different ideas. It allows me to look at our process with a fresh perspective.”

Gus attributes a large part of our remarketing success to the partnerships we form with the auctions. “Our group’s mission is to optimize results, and performance at the auction is critical to achieving our goals. Driver’s Corner

Did you know there are a few simple things you can do to help keep your company vehicle in top condition so that it yields the best return when it comes time for reselling? Follow these simple rules:

  • Always adhere to your regularly scheduled maintenance routine.
  • Clean the vehicle often, and before any stains have a chance to set.
  • Don’t leave trash in the vehicle. Take it out every day.
  • Don’t eat in the vehicle.
  • Use your trunk, not your passenger or back seat, for hauling necessary items.

And Finally…

It was a rough week for a couple brands using Twitter, as their accounts were hacked and rogue tweets posted. The issue was quickly resolved and @BurgerKing and @Jeep were back up and tweeting within a short time of discovery. This tweet from Jeep was the perfect way to address it, and move on with business. Way to go, Jeep. Smart tweeting!
