Driver’s Corner

With summer storm season comes the danger of electric storms. Do you know what to do if your car gets struck by lightning or trapped under a fallen wire?

If you are caught in a storm while driving, you should avoid leaning on the car’s doors and not touch any metal objects. In the event that an electrical wire falls on your vehicle, it is safest to stay in your vehicle and call 911, then remain in your car until help arrives. Read more tips about staying safe during an electrical storm in this article from nj.com that features input from utility companies, electrical experts, and emergency responders.

And Finally

Pokemon Go while driving

One driver side-swiped a parked police car because he was playing Pokémon Go while driving last week. If you and/or your children are on a quest to catch ‘em all this weekend, don’t play while behind the wheel. In fact, even if you are a passenger or a pedestrian, always be aware of your surroundings!

Have a great weekend and safe travels.
