Reducing Depreciation; Resources to Address Fleet Trends; NAFA Webinar Recording Link

“The fleet industry is keen on the idea of employee sales, but, surprisingly, there are fleets that don’t pursue this alternative to wholesale, minimizing depreciation and maximizing resale dollars.”*

That’s the opening of an Automotive Fleet article appearing in this month’s issue titled “Reducing Depreciation Costs With Employee Sales.” We agree!

ShopCompanyCars™ is Donlen’s turnkey solution for offering your fleet vehicles to all your company employees. And the benefits reach beyond depreciation.

“I’m glad that Automotive Fleet covered this important remarketing option,” said Gus Xamplas, Donlen VP of Vehicle Remarketing. “The article focused on pricing benefits to the client and that can certainly be significant. However, one of the benefits not discussed is the ‘happy employee’ aspect of a program like this. Employees view access to vehicles that they can buy ‘below market’ as an added company benefit, much like their health and wellness benefits.”

Donlen’s proprietary employee purchasing website is completely integrated with FleetWeb®. As such, your employees will have comprehensive vehicle information – including maintenance history – at the touch of a button. In addition, your employees have access to a “consumer” buying experience through ShopCompanyCars’ intuitive interface.

  • Receive one of the best returns on your investment
  • Employees purchase vehicles below retail value
  • “Buy now” option, and information on funding and transportation
  • Customize your process involvement and purchase parameters
  • Secure employee login and transaction management
  • Branded with your logo for seamless transition with your other platforms

Donlen was happy to contribute to another Automotive Fleet article this month, “Fleet’s Brave New World: Managing Fuel, Maintenance, and Telematics.” (By the way Automotive Fleet, great issue this month. Lots of really good information!)

How are you managing these three important influences on your fleet? We’d like to hear from you. Here are a few tools available now to help you address these trends:

Fuel Management

Donlen’s unique approach to cutting fuel costs for cars and trucks achieves significant results. The Donlen Fleet MasterCard® Card is accepted at more than 98% of stations across America, and with our strategic consulting, your fleet can save up to 10% annually in fuel spend.

“The Find Fuel Discount tool is helping us to control our fuel spend,” said Phil Samuelson, Purchasing / Asset Manager, United States Infrastructure Corp. “Donlen has developed an easy and accessible way to help us manage and reduce our operating expenses.”

Vehicle Maintenance

Donlen’s SafeCare® preventive maintenance program is accepted at all national account vendors. With it, your drivers find it easier and more efficient to comply with manufacturer warranties. SafeCare ensures safe and properly maintained vehicles, improves driver compliance, and improves vehicle resale values.

Coming soon: SafeCare will be available in an eCoupon format. Now it will be even easier for your drivers to remain in compliance. Watch FridayFleet for that exciting announcement.

DriverPoint™ Telematics

DriverPoint’s multi-faceted program of GPS routing and reporting, online driver training, and driver behavior scorecards will help you increase driver safety and productivity while decreasing your fleet’s total cost of ownership.

Powered by the vehicle’s OBD II port, the DriverPoint™ Telematics device’s “plug in and go” installation makes this device the industry’s easiest to implement and use. No wiring, tools, special skills, or device activation are required. Within minutes, your drivers will be plugged in and ready to roll with no interruption to your operations.

Want to know why other companies are using telematics? Or their future plans? Check out the key findings in our recent fleet manager survey to understand both how telematics and GPS tracking devices are currently utilized within the industry and future intentions to implement a program

Driver’s Corner

It’s hot out. Like record-breaking hot – across many parts of the country – even though summer has barely started. It may not happen often in newer vehicles, but do you know what to do in case your car starts to overheat? First up: if you’re running the air conditioner, turn it off and open the windows. And the next step may be a bit painful, but if you turn on the heater, it helps to transfer the heat to the inside of the vehicle. > Check out more tips here

And Finally…

And finally, can an egg be the future of urban mobility? Not a real egg, of course, but an egg-shaped electric vehicle prototype. According to the developer, Eggasus (video here: http://youtu.be/Ag_KbikiO9E) is a “zero emission, eye-catching, out-of-this-world design… to move you quietly from place to place or building to building in a comfortable, all-weather enclosure.” It’s also a finalist in the Sierra Nevada Innovation Challenge for “Most Innovative Product of the Year.” Now the big question: would you drive it?

Have a nice weekend. Safe travels.
