Tom Callahan Reflects on His First Year as President

Have questions or comments? We want to hear from you.

donlen-tom-callahan-thumb-r2-2013It’s been an extraordinary year at Donlen.

As I reflect back on 2013, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in my first full year as President. This couldn’t be done without your continued support and confidence in us. The feedback we received throughout the year from our Client Advisory Board and all our customers has been invaluable and helped us to formulate our strategic direction, certainly for 2014, but well beyond that as we look toward Donlen’s future.

There are so many great moments from 2013 that it’s difficult to narrow it down to only a few, but I wanted to share some of the highlights with you today.

  • For the seventh time, we were named as one of the best outsourcing service providers by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals® (IAOP®) in the Leader category for The 2013 Global Outsourcing 100® service providers listing. I’m particularly proud of this recognition as it speaks to our commitment to providing the best service to you every day.
  • Our strategic consultants were recognized at the annual Hertz Global Leadership Conference for their work on the automated fleet scorecard project. This conference is attended by more than 500 of our leaders from around the world. During the event, 30 Global Achievement Awards are given to operations, staff, and teams who have accomplished the highest levels of success for our company. It is one of the top recognitions to receive from Hertz and we were honored to accept. Congratulations go to our consultants and the IT group who completed this monumental project.
  • Our technology was recognized twice this year for the way we’re improving productivity for both internal and external users. First, we were named as recipient of the 2013 CIO 100 by IDG’s CIO magazine, which recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. And for the second year in a row, we were named to the InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the US. Our IT group continues to perform at world-class levels.
  • Throughout the year, we made significant improvements to FleetWeb®. Although many of the changes happen behind the scenes, the benefits of added speed and efficiency for users is extraordinary, with performance gains in some areas up to 135 times faster. But we’re not stopping there; look for much more to come for FleetWeb in 2014.
  • The newly launched reporting tool and its functionality is a direct result of your feedback. You spoke and we listened – and I believe the tool that we launched is at the leading edge of the industry. We delivered an improved user interface, integration with Google Maps and Donlen’s DriverPoint® Telematics, a fully searchable report catalog, and instant filtering. And there’s more to come in 2014 with custom reporting and complete asset management integration. Stay tuned for updates on this.

Our employees have gone above and beyond every day to deliver world-class services so that you continue to have trust in our organization and confidence that we are always evolving with you in mind. It’s our priority to continually refine and improve the customer experience, and that will go on as we enter 2014.

I’m excited for 2014, and I’m happy that you are along for our journey. I know that we have our goals planted firmly in the right direction to bring products and services so that you can be the best in your role, and we in ours.

Happy holidays and my very best wishes for the New Year.

Tom

Driver’s Corner

We’re all used to the red, yellow, and green of stoplights. We also understand that a green arrow means that you can proceed with your turn. However, in some parts of the country, you may start seeing a yellow flashing arrow. This means that you must yield to pedestrians and oncoming vehicle traffic before you turn left.
